Sewing with Knit Fabrics –  in Grand Rapids (March 26 – May 7, 2026)

Learn to sew with knit fabrics by making zippered hoodie McCall’s M8070.  In this 6 week course, you will learn basic pattern alterations, how to lay out a pattern and cut knits, sew with knits on your sewing machine, apply a pocket and zipper, sew darts and sleeves, and create cuffs and a hem band.  You will learn ways to customize your hoodie so you can let your creativity shine.  This course includes 15 hours of instruction and 6 months of access to the online supplement course. 

Space is limited to 8 students—a minimum of 4 students is required for the class to run. 

Class meets Thursdays 6:00-8:30pm

Fashion Fit the Upper Body 2-Day Workshop –  in Grand Rapids (June 12-13, 2026)

Learn to tissue-fit the upper body using Palmer/Pletsch classic shirt pattern Butterick B6852. In this 2-day workshop, you will learn the steps of tissue-fitting from selecting your size to preparing, fitting and altering your tissue. Then you will cut out your pieces in fabric and pin fit the shirt. No sewing is involved in this 2-day workshop. Workshop includes 12 hours of instruction. The workshop runs 2 consecutive days 9am-3:30pm with homework to be prepared for the second day.  Students will provide materials according to the supply list. Space is very limited, so please tell your friends and sign up soon! Please note: the studio is located downstairs in my pet-friendly home (dog and cat).

Fit & Sew Pants 3-Day Workshop – in Grand Rapids ( August 7-9, 2026)

Learn to fit and sew pants with me in my studio!  In this 3-day workshop, you’ll learn to tissue-fit pants step by step: choosing your size, preparing, fitting, and altering your pattern. Then we’ll cut and sew your fabric pieces, pin-fit, and finish with construction. The workshop includes 18 hours of instruction.

Space is limited to 6 students—a minimum of 4 students is required for the class to run.

Time:  9am – 3:30pm

Beginning Sewing – in Grand Rapids (September 17-October 22, 2026)

Adult Beginning Sewing! Come learn to sew in my studio. This class is perfect for beginners. No experience necessary!! You will learn how to use your machine, or you may rent one for class use for a low fee. Make a drawstring pant (Simplicity 9202) and learn how to construct pockets, buttonholes, elastic casings and hems. The course includes 15 hours of instruction and the sewing pattern needed for the class.  Students will provide materials according to the supply list.
